Review: Scrub Love Cacao Butter and Coconut Oil Scrubs

I think this might be the broadest review post I’ve ever done, but I had to tell you all in depth about one of my new favourite companies!

So a few weeks back I posted a review of a Scrub Love Activate Charcoal Scrub, and was a little on the fence about the whole thing. The scrubbing power was incredible, and gave me such a satisfying scrub. But the whole thing smelt a little… off. Being the open and honest reviewer I am, I including a lovely description of the smell. In rolls Scrub Love, the lovely people behind the scrub, to tell me that it should NOT smell the way I was describing it! They asked me to send it back and offered me a free full-sized scrub to make up for the mishap. Me being me, I chose my free one and paid for another because indecisiveness for the absolute win! So, a few days later, I sent back my smelly scrub and found myself with two new ones!

As you see, I bagged myself a Cacao butter scrub in the scent chocolate orange, and a coconut oil scrub in the scent coconut mango.

First off, packaging. How amazing is it? Simple, colourful and very effective. The little bags take up no space in a bathroom and are actually pretty flat, so store very easily. Much better than a scrub in a plastic tub!

Next up, the smells. No bad smells this time around; the mango and coconut scrub smells like a tropical dream and left my bathroom smelling amazing for hours! The chocolate orange scrub smells exactly like a Terry’s Chocolate Orange, to the extent my boyfriend made a joke about eating me. The scent lasts all day too, so you can smell like a confectioners treat until bedtime!

Both of these scrubs are really moisturizing, and I was able to skip the full body moisturizer on the days I used these. The Cacao butter scrub is incredibly so, with a great oil as it’s base so you feel very soft when you step out of the shower!

Any downsides? All I can say is that these are messy scrubs, and they do go everywhere! But it’s all part of the fun I guess!

For a direct comparison, the Coconut Oil scrub does have a more sandy consistency and is much less oily. It probably scrubs mildly better than the Cacao Butter one. But the chocolate orange scent was by far my favourite and I can’t wait until my next scrubbing day so I can use it again! The Cacao Butter scrubs are also much more moisturizing, although both do the job fairly well! I’ve taken a couple of pictures so you can see what the scrubs look like out of the packet:

The Coconut Oil scrub has a very sandy and grainy consistency, whereas the Cacao Butter scrub has more of a rock salt consistency. Both are effective scrubbers, although I think the Cacao Butter one is slightly more gentle on the skin. I should also note, that although I prefer the Chocolate Orange scent, I applied the Coconut Mango one first and it overpowered the scent of the Chocolate Orange, even though it had been applied afterwards. All I can smell now is Coconut Mango! The scent definitely has more staying power!

So, has Scrub Love redeemed themselves in my book? Yes they have! On top of some fab products, they also have some amazing customer service which can’t be faulted! Once these scrubs are done, I’m going to have to buy more. They’re just too good to not have!

Scrub Love products retail at £12.95 per scrub, and come in a variety of scents which you can buy here. There are all cruelty free, plastic free and paraben free! And they smell amazing (most of the time!)
