Hey Rachel, remember that festival looks series you wanted to do before festival season began? What happened? … I can’t tell you! I’ve been filled with blogging ideas and have been entertaining parents this month. So a lot fell by the wayside…
But I’m back to explore one of the biggest festival trends of this year; Festival Facial Glitter! It’s the new metallic tattoos!
Where can you get some festival glitter? I recommend Luna Beam! They’re super amazing and their collection is a super sparkly box of all things beautiful! They kindly offered me a selection of 5 samples and although Royal Mail did their best to intercede and lost my initial package, I finally got my hands on my sample packets and have been playing with them ever since!
This post is less of a tutorial and more of a lookbook/picture journal – I’ve really just been playing with these! Keep reading for some look inspo and even a cheeky discount code!
The first thing I did was a pretty basic under the eyes spread:
Simple but effective! This uses the colour Bubblegum – A nice soft, darker pink! The picture doesn’t do the vividness of the colour any justice! It’s so vibrant (head over to my Instagram to see a quick boomerang of this catching the light!).
The next look I tried was hair based – Space buns and glitter roots!
These beautiful space buns were surprisingly easy to create! The glitter in my hair is colour Mirror Maze – a simple, holographic silver colour which goes with just about everything! It certainly got my Instagram followers excited! even if little bits of glitter are still stuck to my scalp…
Mermaid vibes abound in this look, created using the aptly named Majestic Mermaid:
This look is a little more subtle (for as subtle as you can be whilst wearing glitter…) and is perfect for day time. I created a colourful eye look using my Makeup Revolution Mermaids Forever palette and then used an angled liner brush to sweep on the smaller glitter particles, before pressing the larger ones in place using my tweezers.
The simplest and most common look is the packed on glitter on one side of the face. I created this using Bubblegum and Atlantis:
And finally, for the blacker of hearts among you, this Stargazer shade is the perfect dramatizer to an everyday look, letting it take you from day to night!
Why Luna Beam? For starters they are a small British Brand, and regular readers know I LOVE a small British Brand! Their products are all stunning, and some of the cheaper glitters out there. I had a feeling these glitters would be itchy but they’re so comfortable I keep accidentally wiping them off, convinced I’m not wearing any! Not to mention they want to expand into headwear and partywear. They are right at the beginning of their journey and I’m so happy to support them as they start down the road of creating what I’m sure will be a successful brand!
Want to support them too? Check out www.lunabeam.co.uk, load up with glitter to your heart’s desire and then enter wordofrachel25 at the checkout for a huge 25% off! It doesn’t get much better than that!
Are you looking forward to creating some dazzling, mermaid inspired, glittery festival looks? Let me know in the comments (and link me your Instagrams so I can see!)
