Huda Beauty Desert Dusk – Worth the Hype?

Up until recently, I seriously thought I was the only person remotely bothered by the Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Palette. It’s colours are so eye catching and beautiful, with a selection of dazzling mattes, shimmers, metallics and a glitter shade, all set in an array of purples, pinks, golds and oranges, to create the most incredible and dramatic eye looks. From the moment I saw it, I wanted it. But at £56 it had to wait until Christmas, where my wonderful mother-in-law delivered!

December Favourites

As December draws to a close I’ve been hard pressed to find my favourite products. After all, Christmas brings a few new ones, and I’ve had hardly any money since October to buy anything leaving me with a surplus of products I’ve had barely any time to use and scraping around for ones I bought before the month began. Either way, I’ve managed to gather up what I’ve loved over the month of December, and having taken much better photographs than when I last tried this post, I’m ready to show you what I’ve been loving this month.

2017 is Drawing to a Close – What I Learned in One Year of Blogging

Not gonna lie to you guys, I can’t believe I’m here, writing this post. 2017 was the year I started Word of Rachel, as a passion project, and I certainly never thought I’d keep it up, let alone take myself off of a Wordpress free plan and go Self Hosted. It’s been one hell of a year. It’s not been a smooth ride, but it has been pretty amazing. My life, however, is not all about blogging. A lot has happened this year. My life is definitely moving forward. And as I try to remember what I’ve learned here, I’m looking back with a smile!

Blogmas Day 24 – Spending Christmas away from Home for the First Time

It’s going to be a great Christmas, I’m sure of it. But actually registering that Christmas is happening is a little more difficult because my Christmas routine is off. Even when I used to work Christmas day, I would still have lunch and presents with my family. This will be the first year I’m not woken up by my nephews at 7am so they can open their presents from Father Christmas in front of the whole family. Although Peggy wakes me up at 6.30am right now for a cuddle, so I guess it’s pretty much the same thing!

Blogmas Day 23 – The Internal “Meh”

When describing it to my boyfriend as he worried about the fact I didn’t want to get out of bed again, I described it as not being happy but not being sad either, just having a bit of an internal “meh”. And really, I just wanted to quantify that today as an explanation. Because in all honesty it’s fine to have an internal “meh” period, so long as you don’t pack up and stay there!
